‘Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil’ is creating buzz ahead of its October 2 theatrical release in India, with an extensive nationwide marketing campaign aimed at reaching children, families and generations of Doraemon fans.
The film will release across India in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, including select 4DX theatres, offering audiences an immersive experience of Doraemon and his friends’ deep-sea adventure.
In a press release, the makers said the India launch is being supported by a 360-degree marketing and licensing programme spanning out-of-home, digital, radio, experiential activities, school outreach and retail. The campaign is being led by Black White Orange (BWO), with strategic consulting by Happening 365 Synergies.
Presented in India by TV Asahi and released theatrically in association with PVR INOX Pictures, the campaign has brought together an extensive network of partners to create multiple consumer touchpoints around the film.
Speaking about the film, Tetsuo Yajima, director of ‘Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil’, said, “Hello, everyone in India. I’m Tetsuo Yajima, the director. I’m truly delighted to bring ‘Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil’ to audiences in India.”
He added that the film takes viewers into an unexplored deep-sea world, saying, “10,928 meters – the deepest point in the ocean ever reached by humankind. Only 13 people have actually gone there; apparently fewer than the number of people who have travelled to space. And beyond that unknown world lies something even further beyond. What kinds of creatures might live there? What breathtaking sights might await us?”
Yajima invited Indian audiences to join Doraemon and his friends on the underwater adventure and experience the film in theatres.
The movie’s promotional campaign has established a strong out-of-home and digital presence across key markets, with branded buses and auto-rickshaws featuring the iconic blue character. A dedicated school contact programme is also connecting the film with children and families, while an association with KidZania is bringing the world of Doraemon to audiences through an immersive edutainment experience.
The campaign is further being extended across digital, radio, experiential and retail platforms as part of the build-up to the theatrical release. With Doraemon having been a part of Indian childhoods for generations, the campaign combines nostalgia for longtime fans with a fresh cinematic experience for a new generation.
The film marks the 45th theatrical feature in the iconic Doraemon franchise and brings a new cinematic interpretation of the property while retaining the familiarity associated with the beloved character.
The campaign also received a boost with the film’s India premiere in Mumbai on September 26, ahead of its nationwide release. The premiere brought together the film’s producers, influencers, media personalities, children and families for an evening celebrating Doraemon and the upcoming cinematic adventure.
The India launch is being supported by partners across licensing, marketing, digital, outdoor, edutainment, radio and consumer products, including Black White Orange (BWO), Fanthology, Econama, KidZania, RED FM, ANA India, Nitori Japan and Yakult Danone India. Together, these partnerships are extending the Doraemon experience beyond the cinema and creating multiple engagement points for fans across the country.
With the campaign rolling out nationwide, anticipation is building for Doraemon’s return to the big screen.
