Sushilkumar Agrawal, CEO of Ultra Media & Entertainment Group, has been elected as Vice President of the Producers Guild of India at the Guild’s 72nd Annual General Meeting held in Mumbai. Shibasish Sarkar was unanimously re-elected as President of the Guild.

According to a press release by Ultra Media, Agrawal has been a Council Member of the Guild for the past 20 years. His election comes as the Guild continues to represent producers across film, television and digital content and work with the Government and industry stakeholders on issues related to regulation, policy, copyright protection, taxation, ease of filming and other challenges affecting the production ecosystem.

A first-generation entrepreneur, Agrawal began his entrepreneurial journey in 1982, when he acquired diverse rights to classic, old and new films. He was also instrumental in introducing VHS and VCD technology to India, during the early evolution of home entertainment in the country.

Today, Ultra Media & Entertainment Group has grown into an entertainment conglomerate with operations spanning content production, acquisition, distribution and syndication of Indian and international content. Its library comprises more than 3,500 films, 18,000 television episodes and 25,000 film and non-film songs.

The company has also expanded its presence in the digital entertainment space through OTT platforms including Ultra Play, Ultra Jhakaas and Ultra Gaane, offering films, regional programming and music to audiences in India and international markets.

Agrawal is currently focused on promoting regional cinema, with the company involved in film production across Marathi, Gujarati and Malayalam, besides music production and content across multiple languages.

Commenting on his election, Sushilkumar Agrawal said it was an honour and privilege to be elected to the post and thanked the Guild members for their trust and support. He said the Guild has consistently worked towards protecting and promoting the interests of producers and that he looks forward to working with his colleagues on challenges facing the industry and contributing to its continued growth.

Agrawal also serves as a Director of The Indian Performing Right Society Ltd. (IPRS) and is a Committee Member and former President of the Entertainment Content Owners Association of India.

Hiren Gada has also been elected as Vice President of the Producers Guild of India. Manish Goswami, Madhu Bhojwani, Ankur Garg and Aashish Singh have been re-elected as Vice Presidents, while Ashim Samanta and Fazila Allana have been re-elected as Treasurers.

The Guild’s Council of Management for 2026–27 will be led by President Shibasish Sarkar, with Sushilkumar Agrawal, Hiren Gada, Aashish Singh, Ankur Garg, Madhu Bhojwani and Manish Goswami serving as Vice Presidents. Ashim Samanta and Fazila Allana will continue as Treasurers.

The Council also includes Aamir Khan, Anil Kapoor, Ashutosh Gowariker, Hrithik Roshan, Pallab Bhattacharya, Rajan Shahi, Rajkumar Hirani, Ritesh Sidhwani, Sharad Patel, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Utpal Acharya, Vishesh Bhatt and Zoya Akhtar.

The Guild’s Permanent Members are Amit Khanna, Kiran V. Shantaram, Manmohan Shetty, Mukesh Bhatt and Randhir Kapoor, while Kamalkumar Barjatya and Ramesh Sippy continue as Members Emeritus.

The new Council will oversee the Guild’s work during 2026–27 as the Indian entertainment industry continues to navigate developments across theatrical cinema, television, digital platforms, regional content and the wider production ecosystem.
