SES, a leading space solutions and satellite company, yesterday announced the inauguration of its new office in Chennai marking a significant milestone in the  firm’s continued growth and investment in the country even as it prepares, along with Jio, to launch broadband-via-satellite services in India.

The inauguration ceremony for the new office in Chennai, according to a press release yesterday from SES, took place on September 8.

The opening ceremony was attended, amongst others, by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel and Minister for the Economy, SME, Energy and Tourism of Luxembourg, Lex Delles.

The new office opening marks an important milestone in the growth of SES in Chennai as it builds on the combined legacy of Intelsat (a satellite company that merged with SES), which established operations in the city more than five years ago.

Since announcing plans for a Chennai office in 2025, SES workforce in India has tripled to more than 600 employees, reflecting the city’s growing importance as a strategic hub supporting the company’s talent needs in various technical and supporting functional roles.

For more than two decades, SES has been serving India through collaborations with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and other local partners, delivering satellite-enabled connectivity solutions across the country.

“The inauguration of our new Chennai office marks an important milestone for SES and highlights our long-term commitment to India,” said Adel Al Saleh, Chief Executive Officer of SES.

“In a relatively short period of time, our Chennai team has grown rapidly and established itself as an integral part of our global operations. This new office provides a modern, collaborative environment that will help us attract and develop top talent, foster innovation, and support the next phase of our growth,” he added.
