Balaji Telefilms has partnered with YouTube to launch five premium original shows with a total of 200 episodes.
According to The Economic Times report today, the shows will follow a digital-first model and will be available globally on YouTube. Balaji Telefilms will retain ownership of the intellectual property (IP), while YouTube will provide distribution and monetisation through advertising and brand partnerships.
The slate includes returning shows and new stories, including ‘Haq Se’ Season 2, ‘Phir Pyar Ki Yeh Kahani Suno’ and ‘Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai’ Season 4. Other projects are also under development, with the shows to be produced in 4K.
Ekta Kapoor will lead the creative vision for the projects. The partnership comes as YouTube continues to expand its long-form entertainment and connected-TV presence in India.
