Apple Original Films has released the teaser trailer and key art for ‘Being Heumann’, a new film directed by Academy Award winner Sian Heder.
According to an Apple press release yesterday, the film is based on the true story of Judy Heumann, a leading figure in the disability rights movement. It follows Heumann as she leads a group of young adults who come together to fight discrimination and demand equal rights.
The film is set in 1977, when a group of activists occupied a federal building in the US. The protest became the longest occupation of a federal building in American history.
‘Being Heumann’ stars Ruth Madeley and Mark Ruffalo. Sian Heder has written and directed the film. She previously directed the multi-Academy Award-winning film ‘CODA’.
‘Being Heumann’ will open the Toronto International Film Festival on September 10. The film will release in select theatres on November 6 and premiere globally on Apple TV on November 13, 2026.
