Filmmakers Sudhir Mishra and Anubhav Sinha have joined hands for a new film based on a lesser-known 21-day chapter from India’s independence history. National Award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee will play the role of Mahatma Gandhi.
According to a PTI report from Mumbai today,the film will be directed by Sudhir Mishra, who is known for political and social dramas such as ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’, ‘Dharavi’ and ‘Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin’.
Anubhav Sinha, who has directed films including ‘Mulk’, ‘Article 15’ and ‘Thappad’, will produce the film under his banner, Benaras Media Works.
The film will focus on 21 days in the life of Mahatma Gandhi during India’s Independence. According to Mishra, the story will look at a lesser-known period when India was moving towards freedom and Delhi was becoming the centre of political power.
During this period, Gandhi made an unexpected decision to walk away. The film will explore the reasons behind that decision and his personal journey as he chose a different path.The film will also feature an ensemble cast, including actor Saurabh Shukla.The project is presented by NH Studioz.
