Rap reality show ‘Legacy’, created by Ankit Khanna, KR$NA and Raftaar in collaboration with SVF Entertainment, has partnered with ZEE5 as its streaming partner.
According to a ZEE5 press release, the show will stream every Tuesday and Friday at 7 pm on ZEE5. Episodes will also continue to be available on the Kalamkaar Music YouTube channel.
As part of the partnership, ZEE5 subscribers will get access to each episode around 40 hours before it is released on YouTube. The show’s finale, Episode 17, will be available exclusively on ZEE5.
‘Legacy’ focuses on discovering and mentoring India’s next generation of hip-hop artists. The reality show gives emerging rappers a platform to showcase their lyricism, originality, storytelling and performance skills.
Since its premiere, the show has received a strong response on YouTube, with episodes reportedly crossing 850,000 to more than 1 million views on the Kalamkaar Music channel.
Kaveri Das, Business Head, Hindi ZEE5 and Chief Channel Officer, &TV, said the partnership will help the platform connect with younger audiences through hip-hop and emerging musical talent.
Ankit Khanna, Co-founder of Kalamkaar, said ‘Legacy’ aims to build artists by supporting talent, originality and long-term growth, adding that the partnership with ZEE5 will help the show reach a wider audience.
KR$NA said the show aims to provide a platform to artists who are passionate about hip-hop and want to develop their craft, while Raftaar said the series focuses on talent, skill and originality rather than popularity.
The show features rap battles, creative challenges, performances and conversations that highlight the journey of aspiring artists in India’s growing hip-hop scene. Special guest judges on the show have included Ikka and Raghav Juyal.
