Prime Video has announced that ‘Vadhandhi: The Fable of Velonie’ will return for a second season. Ahead of its release, the streaming platform looked back at the success of the first season and highlighted what made the Tamil crime thriller stand out.

According to a Prime Video official announcement released yesterday, produced by Wallwatcher Films and created, written and directed by Andrew Louis, the first season followed police officer Vivek, played by S.J. Suryah, as he investigated the murder of a young woman named Velonie.

Set in Kanyakumari, the series explored how rumours, public perception and conflicting accounts can make it difficult to uncover the truth.

Prime Video said the show’s unique storytelling, layered mystery and strong social themes helped it earn critical acclaim. Instead of relying only on unexpected twists, the series focused on different perspectives and the impact of rumours on people’s lives.

The platform also praised the performances of S.J. Suryah, who made his streaming debut with the series, along with Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, Laila, M. Nasser, Vivek Prasanna, Kumaran Thangarajan and Smruthi Venkat.

Prime Video noted that creators Pushkar and Gayatri, known for projects such as ‘Vikram Vedha’ and ‘Suzhal: The Vortex’, played a key role in bringing the crime thriller to audiences with Andrew Louis.

While announcing that ‘Vadhandhi’ Season 2 is coming soon, Prime Video said the series remains one of its most distinctive Tamil crime dramas, with its focus on how rumours, perception and social judgement can shape the search for truth.
