Actor Matthew Needham has joined the upcoming animated series ‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ as the voice of the legendary DC villain Joker.
According to an ANI report report from Los Angeles, Needham will lend his voice to Batman’s most famous rival in the new season of the animated series.
The show is expected to present a fresh and darker interpretation of Gotham City, focusing on Batman’s early years as a crime fighter.
Needham is best known for playing Larys Strong in HBO’s popular fantasy drama ‘House of the Dragon’. His addition to the series marks his entry into the DC universe, where he will take on the challenging role of bringing the unpredictable and dangerous Joker character to life through voice performance.
‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ is developed as a new animated take on the Batman mythology and follows Bruce Wayne’s transformation into Gotham’s masked vigilante.
The series explores themes of crime, corruption and justice while introducing a new visual and storytelling style.The show is produced by renowned creators including Bruce Timm, who is known for his work on previous Batman animated projects, along with J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves.
Joker remains one of Batman’s most iconic villains, with several actors portraying the character across films, television and animation over the years. Needham’s portrayal will bring a new voice and interpretation to the character.
