Apple TV has announced that its popular drama series ‘The Morning Show’ will conclude with its fifth and final season, which is set to release in 2027.
Starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon in lead roles, the Emmy and Critics Choice Award-winning series has been one of Apple TV’s key original shows since its launch in 2019.
According to an Apple TV press release yesterday,the series revolves around the world of broadcast journalism and explores themes such as newsroom politics, media responsibility, power struggles and changing dynamics in the workplace.
The upcoming final season will continue the story of the characters while bringing the nine-year journey of the show to a conclusion. Apple TV confirmed that the makers have planned the final chapter to give a meaningful ending to the series.
‘The Morning Show’ is produced by Media Res and executive produced by Michael Ellenberg, Charlotte Stoudt and Mimi Leder. Stoudt serves as the showrunner, while Leder also directs and executive produces the series.
Apart from Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, the cast includes Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie and Jon Hamm. New actors joining Season 5 include Jeff Daniels, Reneé Rapp, Jesse Williams, Sean Hayes and Lizzy Caplan.
The show has earned multiple awards and nominations, including Emmy Awards, Critics Choice Awards and Screen Actors Guild honours for its performances.
