Prime Focus Studios has announced that Sony Pictures Entertainment will handle the global distribution of Ranbir Kapoor-starrer ‘Ramayana’ outside India, marking a major milestone for the ambitious mythological film.
According to a PTI report from New Delhi today, the announcement was made on Friday by producer Namit Malhotra, who is backing the two-part cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic.
While Sony Pictures Entertainment will oversee the film’s release in international markets, the distribution strategy for India will remain separate.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayana’ features Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi in lead roles. The film is being positioned as a large-scale action-adventure based on one of India’s most celebrated epics.
The project is produced by Namit Malhotra, founder of Prime Focus Studios and CEO of DNEG, the Academy Award-winning visual effects company known for its work on several Hollywood blockbusters.
The film is expected to feature extensive visual effects and a grand cinematic scale. Adding to its global appeal, the soundtrack is being created by Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman, bringing together two internationally acclaimed musicians for the project.
With Sony Pictures Entertainment joining as the international distributor, ‘Ramayana’ is expected to reach audiences across several countries, strengthening its global theatrical presence.
The collaboration is also expected to boost the film’s international visibility ahead of its release.’Ramayana’ is among the most anticipated Indian films currently in production and is expected to be released as a two-part cinematic saga.
