5G smartphones are taking India by storm, with shipments crossing the 10 crore (100 million) mark for the first time in May. The rapid roll-out of 5G technology in the country has contributed to this remarkable achievement.
According to CyberMedia Research (CMR), a market intelligence firm, 5G smartphone shipments have grown over 28 times since their introduction. In May, 5G smartphones accounted for 48% of the overall smartphone market, with Samsung leading the 5G segment, closely followed by OnePlus and Vivo. Together, these three brands captured a combined 60% market share in the 5G category.
As the availability of 5G expands across various regions in India, the 5G smartphone market is predicted to witness over 70% year-on-year growth by the end of this year. This demonstrates the strong demand and enthusiasm among Indian consumers for the latest 5G technology, IANS reported.
Since its introduction in 2020, the Indian smartphone market has experienced a staggering 13-fold increase in 5G smartphone shipments. This remarkable growth further highlights the country’s rapid adoption of 5G technology.
With the proliferation of 5G networks and the increasing affordability of 5G smartphones, more Indians are expected to embrace this advanced technology, enabling faster internet speeds, seamless streaming, and enhanced overall user experiences.
