Disney’s much-awaited animated sequel ‘Zootopia 2’ is officially set to release in Indian theatres on November 28, 2025, the studio announced on Wednesday. The film brings back the beloved animal metropolis and its iconic characters for another adventurous ride, nearly a decade after the original captivated audiences worldwide.
As per a PTI report, the sequel is directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, the same creative duo behind the original 2016 blockbuster ‘Zootopia’, which went on to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The first film followed rookie bunny cop Judy Hopps and sly fox Nick Wilde as they unraveled a major conspiracy in the city of Zootopia, blending comedy, crime-solving and important social themes — a formula that resonated deeply with viewers of all ages.
The announcement of ‘Zootopia 2’s Indian release was accompanied by the film’s trailer drop on Disney Films India’s official Instagram handle. While plot details remain under wraps, the teaser promises a fresh chapter packed with new characters, thrilling challenges, and the signature humour and heart that defined the original.
Fans have been waiting eagerly for a sequel ever since ;Zootopia; earned critical acclaim and commercial success. With its smart storytelling and vibrant animation, the original carved a space in pop culture and continues to enjoy a strong fan following globally. The return of Judy and Nick — and the world of anthropomorphic animals they inhabit — is expected to draw families and animation lovers back to theatres this winter.
The release of ‘Zootopia 2’ in India aligns with Disney’s global theatrical rollout strategy for the title, marking it as one of the major animated releases of the year.
