Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) has officially reappointed Punit Goenka as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a new five-year term, from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2029.
The company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) that the reappointment was recommended by the Nomination & Remuneration Committee and is subject to approval by the company’s members.
As MD & CEO, Goenka has been instrumental in steering ZEEL‘s growth, transforming it into a diversified entertainment powerhouse. Under his leadership, the company has established itself as India’s No. 2 entertainment network with significant global reach, spanning 190+ countries and reaching over 1.3 billion viewers.
In addition to ZEEL’s traditional broadcast business, Goenka has overseen the growth of ZEE5, ZEEL’s digital entertainment platform, which has become one of the leading global digital destinations. He has also strengthened Zee Studios, positioning it as a leading film production house in India, and Zee Music Company, which has become the second-largest music label in the country.
Goenka’s reappointment reflects his ongoing commitment to expanding ZEEL’s influence in the media and entertainment ecosystem while consistently delivering value to stakeholders. He has focused on creating compelling content that resonates across languages, maintaining the company’s strong presence in the industry. Additionally, ZEEL confirmed that Punit Goenka is not debarred from holding the position of Director by any regulatory authority, including SEBI.
