Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (ZEEL), one of India’s leading media networks reaching over 854 million viewers across 208 million households, has launched a bold new industry-facing initiative titled ‘Z’ Whats Next. As part of this unveiling, the network has also introduced its refreshed brand identity “Yours Truly, Z” and launched two innovative hybrid channels—Zee Power and Zee BanglaSonar.
As per the press release shared by the company, ‘Z’ Whats Next is positioned as an industry-first move, bringing Zee’s partners face-to-face with the future of entertainment. The initiative aims to redefine the storytelling experience by merging creativity with cutting-edge technology and cultural depth. Designed to showcase the network’s evolution into a content-tech powerhouse, the event allowed marketers and industry stakeholders to witness firsthand Zee’s dynamic transition into a platform where content flows seamlessly across TV, OTT, and digital.
Highlighting Zee’s adaptability in today’s platform-fluid environment, the initiative reaffirmed the company’s belief in television as India’s most powerful storytelling medium. It also spotlighted the broadcaster’s efforts to create content that travels across platforms—television, OTT, and social media—without losing its emotional and cultural core.
In line with this vision, the company unveiled Zee Power, a next-generation Kannada hybrid channel aimed at Karnataka’s semi-urban and younger audiences. The channel is set to go on-air in August 2025 with a high-energy programming line-up that includes five fiction series, one non-fiction daily show, daily movies, and occasional World Television Premieres. With bold, contemporary narratives, Zee Power seeks to occupy the ‘white space’ in Kannada entertainment by offering sharper, more urban storytelling.
Siju Prabhakaran, Chief Cluster Officer – South and West, ZEEL, shared, “With 99% TV penetration in Karnataka, we’ve deeply understood the cultural diversity and evolving content tastes of viewers. Zee Power complements Zee Kannada by addressing a more progressive and aspirational audience. It is not just an expansion, it’s our way of redefining Kannada television.”
Alongside, the company also launched Zee BanglaSonar, a first-of-its-kind hybrid Bengali entertainment channel that blends fiction, non-fiction, films, and experimental formats. Aimed at culturally-rooted yet modern audiences, the channel is designed to resonate with Bengali viewers across India. It, too, will go on-air in August 2025 with a strong presence across all districts of Bengal.
Speaking on the launch, Samrat Ghosh, Chief Cluster Officer – East, North & Premium Cluster, ZEEL, said, “West Bengal’s entertainment market is ripe for innovation. Zee BanglaSonar complements our flagship Zee Bangla channel by catering to evolving tastes and offering specially curated content, including programming for male audiences.”
The initiative and the twin channel launches underline Zee’s commitment to delivering hyperlocal yet universally relatable stories. With a portfolio of 50 channels in 11 languages, the network continues to position itself as a cultural cornerstone for Bharat—celebrating identities, subcultures, and stories that shape conversations in the real world.
Kartik Mahadev, Chief Marketing Officer, ZEEL, summed it up: “With ‘Z’ Whats Next, we are reimagining entertainment through the lens of creativity, culture and technology. Zee Power and Zee BanglaSonar embody this approach, reaffirming our promise of being India’s leading content-tech powerhouse.”
As Zee continues to evolve with its audiences and the broader media ecosystem, the company’s ambitious new launches are expected to further consolidate its stronghold in both national and regional markets.
