Yash Raj Films’ latest romantic drama ‘Saiyaara’ has struck box office gold, raking in a whopping Rs.119 crore worldwide in its first three days, the production house confirmed on July 21.
Helmed by veteran filmmaker Mohit Suri, known for ‘Aashiqui 2’ and ‘Ek Villain’, the film has emerged as a surprise hit, catapulting debutant Ahaan Pandey and rising star Aneet Padda into the national spotlight.
The film has grossed Rs.101.75 crore (Rs.84 crore nett) in India, while the international markets added another Rs.17.25 crore to its impressive haul. For a film anchored by a debutant and a relatively new female lead, ‘Saiyaara’s numbers are a major win for Yash Raj Films and for director Mohit Suri, whose signature brand of emotionally intense storytelling has once again proven to resonate with audiences, PTI reported from Mumbai.
Produced under the prestigious YRF banner, ‘Saiyaara’ tells the tale of young, reckless love tested by fate and time. Ahaan Pandey, making his much-anticipated big-screen debut, has been widely appreciated for his raw performance, while Aneet Padda, previously seen in ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ and ‘Salaam Venky’, has received critical acclaim for her deeply emotional portrayal.
The film’s music, composed by Mithoon, has also contributed significantly to its virality. Tracks like ‘Tum Ho Toh’ and the title song ‘Saiyaara’ are trending across social platforms, especially on Instagram and YouTube Shorts, where fans have been using them in everything from breakup edits to wedding montages.
With ‘Saiyaara’ earning strong word-of-mouth and maintaining solid box office momentum, trade analysts expect the film to comfortably enter the Rs.200 crore club if its performance holds through the week. With no major competition until the next big-ticket release, the film has a clear runway to capitalize on its emotional connect and musical charm.
