Neal Mohan has been named the new CEO of YouTube, succeeding Susan Wojcicki, who announced her resignation in February 2014 to “start a new chapter focused on my family, health, and personal projects I’m passionate about.”
He joined Google after it acquired DoubleClick in 2007 and rose through the ranks to become SVP of Display and Video Ads and YouTube’s chief product officer in 2015.
“… he has established a top-tier product and UX team, played pivotal roles in the launch of some of our most important products, including YouTube TV, YouTube Music, Premium and Shorts, and has led our Trust and Safety team, ensuring that YouTube lives up to its responsibility as a global platform,” Wojcicki wrote in her update on the YouTube blog.
She joined Google in 1998 and has “done many things” over the years, including managing marketing, co-creating Google Image Search, leading Google’s first Video and Book search, as well as early parts of AdSense’s creation, working on the YouTube and DoubleClick acquisitions, and serving as SVP of Ads.
