The iconic Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ is set to rekindle its magic on the big screen with a re-release on January 3, 2025.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the film will hit 140 PVR INOX cinemas across 46 cities, giving fans a nostalgic start to the new year, PTI reported.
Originally released on May 31, 2013, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ became a box-office sensation and continues to be cherished for its captivating storyline, soulful music and heartfelt performances.
Producer Karan Johar expressed his excitement about the film’s re-release, calling it the perfect way to begin the year, “This film has great music, stunning locations, beloved actors, and a story that resonates across generations. It leaves you with a warm, fuzzy feeling about life. We can’t wait to see how Gen Z reacts to it on the big screen and how millennials relive their favorite dialogues and songs.”
Director Ayan Mukerji, reflecting on the film’s legacy, added, “Creating this film was one of the greatest joys of my life. More than a decade later, it remains a source of immense pride for me. Its perfections and imperfections make it a timeless piece.”
Niharika Bijli, Lead Strategist at PVR INOX Ltd., highlighted the emotional appeal of the re-release, “Ayan Mukerji’s masterful storytelling makes this film a timeless repeat watch. We are thrilled to bring it back to the big screen and can’t wait to see the audience’s reaction.”
The romantic comedy follows four friends — Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor), Naina (Deepika Padukone), Avi (Aditya Roy Kapur) and Aditi (Kalki Koechlin) — navigating the highs and lows of life.
