WPP has announced the appointment of Elav Horwitz as its first Chief Innovation Officer, a newly created role aimed at strengthening the company’s leadership in applied AI and delivering cutting-edge, technology-driven solutions for clients.
In this new capacity, Elav will be responsible for bridging WPP’s global network of partners with its creative and strategic teams to cultivate a culture of collaboration and agile innovation. Her focus will lie in advancing applied AI and client transformation—reshaping how brands engage with commerce, create compelling content, and influence culture. She will continue to report to Stephan Pretorius, Chief Technology Officer at WPP.
A recognized advocate for responsible technology and innovation, Elav also serves as an advisor to the Spotify and Meta Creative Councils and is a founding member of the women’s leadership network Chief.
Her appointment reinforces WPP’s continued investment in technology, data, and innovation, following several key hires including Daniel Barak as Global Creative and Innovation Lead, Sarah Salter as VP of Global Partnerships & AI Innovation, and Mathieu Albrand as Director of AI Strategy and Innovation. Together, they will collaborate with Elav and Pretorius to push forward WPP’s innovation roadmap.
“Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at WPP, and Elav’s promotion to Chief Innovation Officer underscores our commitment to shaping the future of our industry,” said Stephan Pretorius, CTO of WPP. “She will be instrumental in translating applied AI into real business impact for our clients.”
Commenting on her new role, Elav Horwitz said, “Never before has the need for innovation and agility been more critical than in our AI era. By uniting the best talent, capabilities, and partners, we can turn future possibilities into tangible outcomes and democratize innovation.”
Cindy Rose, CEO of WPP, added, “As we rewrite the marketing playbook for the AI era, Elav’s leadership will embed innovation at the core of everything we do, ensuring our clients benefit from the most advanced and effective solutions.”
