WhatsApp has unveiled a new feature enabling users to transcribe voice messages into text, making it easier to keep up with conversations in any setting. The feature, called Voice Message Transcripts, is rolling out globally over the coming weeks, starting with select languages, with plans to add more languages soon.
In a blog post, WhatsApp highlighted the growing popularity of voice messages, emphasizing their personal touch. However, there are times when users may not be able to listen to them, such as in noisy environments or while on the move. Voice message transcripts aim to bridge this gap by offering a text alternative to audio communication, IANS reported.
How to Use the Feature
• Enable Transcripts: Go to Settings > Chats > Voice Message Transcripts to turn the feature on or off.
• Transcribe Messages: Long-press a voice message and tap Transcribe to convert it into text.
The transcripts are processed directly on the user’s device, ensuring privacy and that no one else, including WhatsApp, can access the content of the messages.
WhatsApp continues to enhance the user experience with new features:
• Message Drafts: Chats with unfinished messages are now marked with a Draft label and moved to the top of the chat list for easy access.
These updates reflect WhatsApp’s commitment to making communication more seamless and efficient.
Stay tuned for more updates as WhatsApp expands its language options and continues to innovate in the messaging space.
