Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has appointed Shauna Spenley as the Global Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for its direct-to-consumer segment, overseeing streaming marketing efforts for WBD’s key products, including Max and Discovery+.
Spenley succeeds Patrizio (Pato) Spagnoletto, who will be departing WBD later this fall.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spenley will lead all aspects of marketing, including subscriber growth and retention, research, and other strategic areas. She will report directly to JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games at Warner Bros. Discovery.
Expressing her excitement about joining the WBD team, Spenley stated, “It is a privilege to be joining this phenomenal team. I have been a subscriber and fan of Max since its launch. The incredible array of content is unmatched in the industry, including the most prestigious brand in television… HBO.
“I cannot wait to jump in and get to work with JB, Casey, and the marketing group. I believe we are incredibly positioned to ride the recent momentum of Max and grow it to be a top global streamer.”
