The makers of director Puri Jagannadh’s much-anticipated film starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead have officially revealed the title as ‘Slumdog – 33 Temple Road’. The announcement was made on Friday to mark Vijay Sethupathi’s birthday, adding to the excitement surrounding the project that has been closely followed by fans and film industry watchers alike.
According to an IANS report, Puri Jagannadh took to social media to unveil the title poster while extending birthday wishes to the actor. Sharing the poster on X, the director described the film as raw, ruthless and real, hinting at the intense tone of the narrative. He also confirmed that the film will see a multi-language release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam, underlining its pan-India ambitions.
The striking title poster features Vijay Sethupathi in a rugged avatar, wearing dark sunglasses and holding a blood-stained machete. He is seen standing amid wooden crates filled with currency notes, a visual that has already sparked curiosity and speculation about the film’s themes. The imagery suggests a gritty, high-stakes world, aligning with Puri Jagannadh’s trademark storytelling style.
The film has been generating strong buzz ever since shooting commenced in July last year. Produced by Puri Jagannadh under the Puri Connects banner, the project is presented by Charmme Kaur in association with JB Motion Pictures and JB Narayan Rao Kondrolla. The collaboration with JB Motion Pictures is expected to enhance the scale and production value of the film.
Samyuktha plays the female lead opposite Vijay Sethupathi, while Tabu and Vijay Kumar are seen in pivotal roles. Sources indicate that Samyuktha’s character is central to the storyline, offering significant emotional depth and performance-driven moments. The actress is said to be particularly excited about the script and the scope her role provides.
Described as a full-fledged mass and commercial entertainer, ‘Slumdog – 33 Temple Road’ promises a distinctive storyline that blends Puri Jagannadh’s edgy narrative style with Vijay Sethupathi’s powerful screen presence. The unit had also filmed major action sequences during a schedule that began in October last year, further raising expectations for a high-octane cinematic experience.
