Actor Vardhaan Puri is set to headline ‘Param Veer’, an upcoming war film based on the Battle of Gangasagar during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. Produced and directed by Sumant Raturi, the film will revisit a significant chapter in military history, highlighting the courage, resilience and sacrifices of soldiers who fought for the country.
According to an ANI report, the makers have unveiled the film’s title and poster, offering a first glimpse of the project. The film is produced under the banners of HVJ Media and Myradha Motion Pictures, with Sagar Gowda serving as co-producer.
The Battle of Gangasagar took place on December 3, 1971, in what was then East Pakistan, now Bangladesh. Through ‘Param Veer’, the makers aim to bring the historical engagement to the screen and pay tribute to the soldiers whose actions became part of the country’s military history.
Speaking about his association with the film in a press note, Puri said working on the project over the past year had become a deeply personal and transformative experience. He added that portraying a story centred on the sacrifices of soldiers had strengthened his admiration for the armed forces and their families.
“I have always felt a deep love for our country, and being part of a story that brings to life the courage, resilience, and sacrifices of our soldiers has only deepened that feeling,” Puri said, adding that the experience had given him a greater sense of gratitude and respect for those who serve the nation.
The actor also praised Raturi’s vision and the commitment of the team in bringing the story to life. He said he was excited for audiences to experience the film and the spirit behind it.
Reflecting on the significance of the Battle of Gangasagar, Puri described the film as a tribute to the soldiers who shaped the chapter of history. He noted that behind every soldier’s sacrifice are stories of courage, love and dedication that deserve to be remembered.
With Raturi leading the project as producer, writer and director, ‘Param Veer’ aims to honour the bravery of soldiers while also recognising the sacrifices made by their families. Further details about the film’s release and other cast members have not yet been announced.
