Utopai Studios has unveiled PAI 2.0, the latest version of its cinematic storytelling AI system, marking a major step forward in the company’s vision of building AI-native tools for filmmakers, creators and professional production teams.

According to Utopai Studios press release, the launch comes less than two months after the debut of PAI in April and follows strong market adoption of the platform. Utopai Studios said PAI has already reached $11 million in annual recurring revenue, reflecting growing demand for AI-powered filmmaking solutions capable of supporting long-form, high-quality storytelling with greater creative control and consistency.

PAI 2.0 has been designed as an agent-first cinematic creation platform that helps users plan, generate and refine video content through a more flexible and personalised workflow. The platform is built to understand a creator’s objectives, available resources and creative context before guiding them through the most suitable production process.

The new system combines an enhanced creative agent with a Canvas-based workspace, voice input capabilities, and advanced image and video generation models. Together, these features are intended to make the filmmaking process more transparent, editable and manageable across multiple stages, including story development, asset creation, storyboarding and final video production.

A key highlight of the release is the introduction of two distinct creation modes. Easy Mode is aimed at creators looking for a guided experience, helping them move from concept development and reference gathering to storyboarding, clip generation and final video assembly. Pro Mode, meanwhile, offers access to Canvas, a connected workspace that allows users to organise, edit, branch and refine different creative elements within a single environment.

PAI 2.0 also introduces several advanced capabilities geared toward professional creators. These include rapid variant generation, 2×2 keyframe generation for each 15-second video segment, and support for cinematic 4K video generation with virtually unlimited extensions. According to the company, these features are designed to address one of the biggest challenges in AI filmmaking—maintaining narrative consistency and creative continuity across longer projects.

Commenting on the launch, Zijian He, Chief Scientific Officer of Utopai Studios, said the company’s goal is to create a breakthrough moment for media generation similar to what advanced coding assistants have achieved in software development. He noted that generating isolated clips is not enough for serious filmmaking and that PAI 2.0 focuses on preserving story context, maintaining consistency across scenes and giving creators greater control over the creative process.

The platform is targeted at prosumers and professional teams working on projects such as short films, episodic series, fantasy and historical content, music videos, children’s animation, brand storytelling and other production-intensive formats that require continuity across characters, locations and narrative arcs.

The launch also aligns with Utopai Studios’ broader strategy of transforming creator workflows into scalable production infrastructure. By supporting creators throughout the storytelling process, the company aims to position PAI as a trusted solution for studios, agencies, marketing teams and enterprise users seeking reliable creative tools and workflow management systems.

Alongside the launch, Utopai Studios has introduced a revised subscription model for PAI 2.0, including monthly and annual plans, credit top-ups and enterprise-focused offerings. Existing users of PAI 1.0 will be able to migrate gradually, with the earlier version remaining available until July 2. The company has also confirmed that unused PAI 1.0 credits as of June 2 will be matched and transferred to users’ PAI 2.0 accounts on a one-to-one basis.

With PAI 2.0, Utopai Studios is aiming to strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving AI content creation space, offering creators and production teams a more comprehensive platform for developing cinematic content at scale.
