To entice more users, Elon Musk’s Twitter will now show at least 50 percent fewer adverts to Blue customers, as well as increase their exposure on the platform.
The new function is available on both the ‘For You’ and ‘Following‘ tabs of the microblogging site.
“As you scroll, you’ll notice roughly twice as many organic or non-promoted Tweets sandwiched between promoted Tweets or ads,” according to the firm, which added, “there may be times when there are more or fewer non-promoted Tweets between promoted Tweets.”
However, the feature does not apply to adverts displayed in profile replies, promoted accounts and trends, or promoted events on the Explore tab.
In addition, the firm has prioritized rankings in chats and searches for Blue users, who pay $8 a month.
Meanwhile, the blue check marks on Twitter for historically verified accounts remain, IANS reported from New Delhi.
For legacy Blue users, a new verified tagline now reads: “This account is verified because it is subscribed to Twitter Blue or is a legacy verified account”.
“We are adding the date of verification to the profile,” said Twitter CEO Elon Musk, “Because there was so much manipulation with legacy checkmarks in the past, just the date since paid verification counts.”
Beginning April 15, only verified accounts will be allowed to appear in ‘For You’ recommendations, according to Musk.
