‘TRUST NO ONE. SUSPECT EVERYONE’. That’s the warning viewers will have to keep in mind as Prime Video’s next big reality sensation ‘The Traitors’ gears up for its explosive debut on June 12, with new episodes dropping every Thursday at 8pm.
This high-stakes psychological game show is the Indian adaptation of the globally acclaimed format that has already conquered audiences in over 30 countries. With BAFTAs, Emmys, and countless broken alliances to its name, ‘The Traitors’ now makes its grand entry into India — hosted by none other than the flamboyant and sharp-tongued Karan Johar.
In a press release shared by Prime Video, the platform teased the series as “a battle of deception, betrayal, and survival,” promising a reality show that breaks all the familiar tropes. Forget tasks based on strength or dance-offs — this is a game of nerve, instinct, and sheer psychological warfare.
Set inside a majestic palace, 20 contestants — all celebrities — arrive to participate in what seems like a collaborative mission to win a cash prize. But there’s a dark twist: a few among them are secretly “Traitors”, chosen by Karan himself, whose job is to eliminate the innocent players one by one. Every night, the Traitors “murder” a fellow contestant in secret. Every day, the group works together on missions to build the prize pot. And every episode ends with a Round Table showdown, where suspicions run wild, alliances are tested, and someone is voted out — rightly or wrongly.
If the Innocents successfully unmask all the Traitors, they split the prize. But if even one Traitor survives till the end, they take it all — leaving the Innocents with nothing but betrayal.
What makes ‘The Traitors’ different from other reality shows is its psychological intensity. In a world where every smile could be a strategy, and every hug could hide a dagger, it’s not muscle that wins — it’s manipulation. With Karan Johar at the helm, you can expect drama, flair, and fireworks like never before.
This isn’t just a game — it’s a full-blown social thriller unfolding in real time, where friendships collapse, trust is weaponised, and secrets are currency. Add to that the high production value, an all-celebrity cast, and the grandeur of its royal setting, and ‘The Traitors’ promises to become India’s most talked-about reality show yet.
The show is produced by BBC Studios India Productions and is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video starting June 12.
