Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ has achieved another major milestone at the global box office, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.
According to a PTI report from Los Angeles, the film has earned $1.352 billion worldwide, surpassing ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, which collected $1.338 billion globally in 2024.
‘The Odyssey’ is based on the famous Greek epic attributed to Homer. The film brings the legendary story to the big screen on a large scale and has become one of the biggest box office successes of the year.
Released in theatres on July 17, the movie has maintained a strong performance at the worldwide box office. Its record comes despite competition from other major summer releases, including ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’.
The film has also made history for its technical achievement. ‘The Odyssey’ is the first movie ever to be shot entirely using IMAX cameras, adding to the scale and visual experience of Nolan’s mythological epic.
