Apple TV will premiere the documentary film ‘The Last First: Winter K2’ globally on October 2, Directed by Amir Bar-Lev, the film follows a 2021 expedition to climb K2 during winter.
According to a Apple TV Press, the documentary follows Icelandic mountaineer John Snorri Sigurjónsson and Pakistani father-son team Ali and Sajid Sadpara as they attempt to become the first team to reach the summit of K2 in winter.
The film captures the challenges faced by the climbers during the expedition. Their journey takes place alongside influencer climbers and their film crews, commercial expedition clients and a Nepalese team, adding to the difficult and complex environment on the mountain.
‘The Last First: Winter K2′ also looks at how the culture of extreme mountain climbing has changed over the years. The documentary explores themes such as strategy, determination, class and caste, money and power within the world of high-altitude climbing.
The documentary focuses on the 2021 K2 expedition and the people involved in the attempt to make history by reaching the summit during the winter season.
