Tamil ZEE5 has entered 2026 with a clearly defined programming strategy, placing thrillers and high-engagement entertainment at the centre of its content roadmap. The platform has unveiled a packed lineup of films and original series, alongside a festive Pongal brand campaign, as it looks to deepen viewer engagement amid rising competition in the regional OTT space.
Tamil ZEE5 is positioning 2026 as a year driven by suspense-led storytelling, backed by variety and scale. The early momentum has been encouraging, with the audio launch of ‘Jana Nayagan’ starring Thalapathy Vijay delivering the highest first-day subscriptions for any ZEE5 content so far, followed by positive viewership trends for Kevin’s Mask, The Economic Times reported.
Building on this strong start, Tamil ZEE5 has rolled out a Pongal brand film featuring Jiiva and Andrea Jeremiah under the campaign tagline ‘Zee5-il Indha Pongal, Thigil Pongal’. The film blends the festive mood of Pongal with noir-inspired suspense, reflecting the platform’s broader focus on thrill-driven narratives while staying rooted in cultural moments.
Alongside the campaign, the platform has lined up several notable titles for the year, including Sirai, Parasakthi, the sequel to Demonte Colony, and original series such as Partha Naybhagam Illayo and Once Upon A Time In Kayamkulam. The slate reinforces Tamil ZEE5’s intent to make thrillers a defining pillar of its content strategy in 2026.
Commenting on the roadmap, Lloyd C. Xavier, Business Head – Tamil Malayalam ZEE5 and SVP – Marketing South, said the platform has entered the new year with a sharp focus on delivering high-impact entertainment. He noted that the response to Jana Nayagan and Kevin’s Mask reflects the audience’s appetite for gripping content, adding that the Pongal campaign and upcoming lineup underline Tamil ZEE5’s commitment to raising the bar for Tamil OTT entertainment throughout the year.
Actor Jiiva, who fronts the Pongal campaign, said collaborating with Tamil ZEE5 has been a positive experience, highlighting the team’s focus on presenting engaging stories that connect with viewers. He added that the film captures both the festive spirit of Pongal and the thrill audiences can expect from the platform in the coming months.
Andrea Jeremiah echoed the sentiment, saying she enjoyed working on the film and creatively integrating the promotion of Mask. She also spoke about the fun of collaborating with Jiiva and expressed interest in seeing how audiences respond to the campaign.
With a slate packed with thrillers, big-ticket films and high-energy series, Tamil ZEE5 is setting the tone for both festive and year-round entertainment, positioning 2026 as a significant year in its Tamil OTT journey.
