Renowned lyricist, singer, actor and writer Swanand Kirkire has come on board filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya’s upcoming romantic family drama ‘Yeh Prem Mol Liya’. The film, headlined by Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari Wagh, seeks to harmonise contemporary sensibilities with the timeless ethos that has long defined Barjatya’s cinematic grammar.
According to a UNI report, while details about Swanand Kirkire’s character have not been revealed yet, sources close to the project suggest that his role will be significant and intriguing, adding to the emotional depth of the film.
Sharing his thoughts on joining the project, Kirkire expressed admiration for Barjatya’s storytelling style. He said that working with the filmmaker feels like coming home to a certain kind of storytelling that has shaped generations of audiences. He noted that Barjatya’s films celebrate love not only between two individuals but also within families, across generations, and through quiet gestures and unspoken understanding.
Kirkire further mentioned that the special aspect of Barjatya’s writing lies in its ability to make even silence speak volumes. He highlighted the dignity, simplicity and warmth with which relationships are portrayed on screen, calling the experience both challenging and satisfying for an actor, as it demands emotional authenticity without being overly pretentious.
Describing his association with the production house, Kirkire said that being part of a Rajshri Productions film is like joining a legacy. He also shared that working alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari Wagh has been a great experience, praising both actors for bringing a distinct identity and sensitivity to their performances.
