Reema Kagti’s much-anticipated film, ‘Superboys of Malegaon’, had a successful screening at the 68th BFI London Film Festival on Thursday.
This marks the film’s second major international appearance following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 13.
The film, written by Varun Grover and starring Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Shashank Arora, has already garnered attention for its unique storyline and inspiring portrayal of grassroots filmmaking.
The red carpet event in London was attended by the film’s key figures, including producers Ritesh Sidhwani, Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti, and actor Adarsh Gourav. The film follows a group of passionate amateur filmmakers from the town of Malegaon, who create parody films despite limited resources, showcasing the power of community and the magic of cinema.
Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti, ‘Superboys of Malegaon’ is a celebration of resilience, self-actualization, and the joy of filmmaking. The movie is set for a January 2025 theatrical release in India.
