The highly anticipated sequel to the horror comedy ‘Stree’, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, is set to release on August 15, 2024, coinciding with Independence Day. The release date has been moved up from the original August 31.
Producer Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films announced the new release date on social media platform X, stating, “Iss swatantrata diwas, aa rahi hai #Stree fir se! #Stree2 in cinemas this Independence Day, 15th August 2024.”
‘Stree 2’ will face stiff competition at the box office from Akshay Kumar’s ‘Khel Khel Mein,’ John Abraham’s ‘Vedaa,’ and Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, PTI reported from Mumbai.
The original ‘Stree,’ released in 2018, was both a commercial and critical success, featuring Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film was set in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, and was inspired by the urban legend of ‘Nale Ba’ from Karnataka.
‘Stree 2’ continues the legacy within Maddock’s horror comedy universe, which includes films like ‘Roohi,’ ‘Bhediya,’ and the recently released ‘Munjya.’ Produced by Vijan and Jio Studios, the sequel promises to bring more thrills and laughter to audiences this Independence Day.
