Streambox Media, backed by Micromax Informatics, Nikhil Kamath and Stride Ventures, has unveiled Dor, a subscription-based television service aimed at revolutionizing home entertainment in India.
To be launched on December 1, Dor integrates a 4K QLED TV with an ecosystem of OTT platforms, live TV channels, gaming, and news, offering an affordable, seamless viewing experience.
Dor is powered by the indigenously developed Dor TV OS, designed to unify fragmented services into a single subscription. With AI-driven content discovery, intuitive navigation, and hyper-personalization, Dor eliminates the hassle of switching between apps and devices.
Key features of the 43-inch Dor QLED TV include:
- 4K Ultra HD resolution for lifelike visuals.
- Dolby Audio for an immersive sound experience.
- Solar-powered remote control and a companion app.
- Accessto 24+ OTT apps and 300+ live TV channels through a single sign-on.
Rahul Sharma, Co-Founder of Micromax, highlighted that Dor captures the shift towards renting over owning.
The service aims to democratize access to premium entertainment with its unique subscription model:
- Rs.10,799 upfront (activation + one month of service).
- Rs. 799/month for the first 12 months.
- Post-12 months, users can opt for customized plans.
The TV includes a four-year warranty and offers continuous security and software upgrades, ensuring a future-ready experience.
Dor is set to release 55-inch and 65-inch variants in early 2025, catering to a broader audience. Romil Ramgarhia, COO of Streambox Media, explained, “By consolidating the cost of smart TVs and content services, Dor delivers a 50–60 percent cost reduction for households, redefining affordability in India’s smart TV market.”
Anuj Gandhi, Founder and CEO of Streambox Media, emphasized the market potential by saying with CTV households to double in five years, Dor bridges the gap between affordability and premium entertainment.
