Sony YAY! has announced the launch of ‘Naruto Shippuden’ on Indian television for the very first time. The show, which started airing from August 15 the new season, marks a significant step in expanding the anime fanbase across the country.
The move aligns with Sony YAY!’s strategy of making global animation content more accessible to Indian audiences. The series will be available in multiple regional languages — Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Bangla — ensuring deeper penetration in key markets. Currently, the channel enjoys a strong position in the anime category with a consistent 17–20 percent share, and the addition of ‘Naruto Shippuden’ is expected to further strengthen its foothold.
Beyond the screen, the popularity of ‘Naruto Shippuden’ is already evident in India, with the franchise’s presence extending into lifestyle merchandise including apparel, accessories, wall art, helmets, and home and office products.
Commenting on the launch, Ambesh Tiwari, Business Head, Sony Kids, said, “Building the Naruto and Naruto Shippuden universe in India has been a focused and strategic journey. From premiering fresh seasons to curating immersive experiences and fan-centric engagements, we’ve consistently worked to deepen the connection between this iconic character and fans across the country.”
With this latest addition, Sony YAY! reaffirms its position as the go-to platform for anime in India, blending international favourites with local accessibility to nurture a new generation of fans.
