Sony SAB is set to expand its fiction slate with ‘Hui Gumm Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan’, the official Indian adaptation of the globally acclaimed Italian medical drama ‘DOC – Nelle Tue Mani’.
The channel, known for its strong connect with family audiences, is bringing the celebrated format to India with a narrative rooted in emotion, resilience and the power of human connection.
As per a press release, DOC has been successfully adapted in more than five countries and has earned widespread international recognition for its compelling storytelling. With ‘Hui Gumm Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan’, Sony SAB aims to recreate the emotional depth of the original while tailoring it to Indian sensibilities.
Staying true to the soul of the original series, the Indian adaptation will chronicle the journey of a brilliant doctor whose life is turned upside down after a traumatic incident wipes out several years of his memory. As he struggles to piece together his past, rebuild fractured relationships and reclaim his professional identity, the story explores a transformed approach to medicine — one driven by empathy, vulnerability and genuine human connection. Unlike many conventional television narratives, the show places a layered male protagonist at the centre, offering a refreshing perspective within the Hindi GEC space.
Commenting on the adaptation, Ajay Bhalwankar, Business Head, Sony SAB, said the channel is excited to introduce a globally celebrated format to Indian viewers. He noted that Hui Gumm Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan reflects Sony SAB’s focus on distinctive, character-driven storytelling, adding that the emotionally resonant narrative and nuanced male lead bring a fresh dimension to family drama on television.
Sonika Bhasin, VP, Distribution, South Asia, Sony Pictures Entertainment — the format owners of DOC — said the series is regarded as a high-value global IP due to its emotional depth and international success. She added that India, being a critical market, required a partner capable of delivering authentic and relatable storytelling, making Sony SAB the ideal choice for the adaptation.
With its blend of high-stakes drama, heartfelt moments and layered characters, ‘Hui Gumm Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan’ aligns with Sony SAB’s vision of offering content that emotionally engages, inspires and resonates with viewers, while extending the legacy of a globally successful medical drama to Indian television.
