Global pop sensation Lisa of BLACKPINK is set to step into the solo spotlight like never before. Sony Music Vision has officially announced a documentary chronicling the Thai singer-rapper’s journey beyond her life in the chart-topping K-pop girl group. The news was confirmed during Sony Music’s first-ever content showcase held in Los Angeles on Thursday evening.
According to a UNI report, the documentary offers a deeply personal, year-long glimpse into Lisa’s life and evolution as an individual artist. The film is directed by Sue Kim, best known for her acclaimed work on ‘The Last of the Sea Women’, and promises to show both the glamorous highs and the emotional depth of Lisa’s transition to solo stardom. Produced in collaboration with LLOUD CO/RCA Records and Tremolo Productions, the yet-untitled documentary is expected to give fans unprecedented access to the real Lisa—offstage and unfiltered.
Sharing insights during the showcase, Kim spoke of Lisa’s humility, stating, “She loves to refer to herself as, ‘I’m just a normal girl from Thailand.’ And when you meet her, she actually is. She’s so down to earth. It’s quite shocking, and so real and so sincere. But she’s incredibly found herself in this crazy position of being one of the biggest superstars in the world, and even within that world, she’s trying to expand out of it.”
The film captures the backdrop of a transformative phase in Lisa’s career, including the release of her solo debut album ‘Alter Ego’, which not only broke into the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 but also debuted at No. 1 on the top album sales chart. Her first solo set at Coachella and her unexpected appearance in HBO’s The White Lotus Season 3 have further cemented her individual status as an international powerhouse.
Despite her flourishing solo journey, Lisa will be returning to the stage this summer with her BLACKPINK bandmates for a world tour. However, the upcoming documentary stands as a landmark project, delving into the making of an artist unafraid to step away from a global phenomenon and build a path of her own.
“Lisa’s story is not just one of fame, but of personal discovery and artistic courage,” Sony Music Vision stated, promising the film will offer a fresh and in-depth perspective on one of this generation’s most dynamic performers.
