Sony MAX is set to premiere ‘Peddi’, starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, on October 24. The sports-action drama also features Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu and Divyenndu, with music composed by A.R. Rahman.
Set in a remote village in Andhra Pradesh in 1990, the film follows Peddi, a talented sportsperson and local hero played by Ram Charan. When his community and its way of life come under threat, his sporting journey takes a different turn, becoming a fight for the pride, identity and dignity of his people.
Devika Prabhu, Business Head – Hindi Movies, said ‘Peddi’ brings together the elements audiences look for in a major television premiere, including a popular star, action, emotion and a compelling story. She described the protagonist as a “har khel ka superstar”, whose determination to stand up for his community matches his sporting talent.
Prabhu added that Ram Charan brings intensity and emotion to the character, making the film a fitting addition to Sony MAX’s entertainment line-up.
Speaking about the film, Ram Charan said the script was the primary reason he chose to be part of the project. Recalling his first reaction when he heard the story at home, the actor said he was so moved that he immediately hugged director Buchi Babu. He added that even filmmaker Sukumar was surprised by his response.
Charan said he felt fortunate to be associated with ‘Peddi’, adding that he has always wanted to work in films that can inspire audiences across generations. He felt the story had that potential when he first heard the script.
With its mix of sports, action and community-driven drama, ‘Peddi’ will arrive on television audiences’ screens with its world television premiere on Sony MAX on October 24 at 8pm.
