Actor Sidharth Malhotra is set to return to the big screen with a fresh twist—this time as the lead in a folk thriller titled ‘Vvan – Force of the Forest’. The makers announced on Friday that the much-anticipated film will hit Indian theatres on May 15, 2026, PTI reported.
Produced by Ektaa R Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms Ltd in collaboration with The Viral Fever (TVF), the film marks a unique confluence of mainstream cinema and storytelling sensibilities that have found massive success in the digital space. Vvan will be directed by Arunabh Kumar and Deepak Mishra, the creative duo known for their work on the critically acclaimed web series ‘Panchayat’.
The announcement was made via Balaji Telefilms‘ official social media handles, with a cryptic yet intriguing caption: “The forest has whispered. The force will be unleashed on 15th May, 2026! Get ready for the big screen adventure!”
Though the makers are tight-lipped about the storyline, the title and theme suggest a film deeply rooted in folklore, forest mythology, and supernatural elements. With Malhotra stepping into a genre he hasn’t explored before, Vvan is being viewed as a promising shift in tone and texture for the actor.
This film also marks an important collaboration between the traditional film powerhouse Balaji and content disruptors TVF—hinting at a cinematic experience that blends big-screen appeal with grounded, culturally resonant storytelling.
The release date announcement sets the stage for what could be one of the more ambitious and unique entries in Indian cinema next year, especially with the film’s underlying connection to environmental and mystical themes.
