Shemaroo Filmi Gaane, the flagship YouTube channel of Shemaroo Entertainment, has crossed 75 million subscribers and entered the global Top 10 music channels.
According to a Shemaroo Entertainment press release from Mumbai today, the channel marked the milestone with a new brand film based on the idea that music continues to connect people across generations and different stages of life.
The film features everyday moments involving people travelling in an auto and cab, studying, spending time together, working at a barbershop and celebrating retirement. The song ‘Chala Jata Hoon, Kisi Dhun Mein’ runs through these different stories before the 75 million subscriber milestone is revealed.
Saurabh Srivastava, COO Digital Business, Shemaroo Entertainment, said Hindi film music continues to connect with people across generations. He said the 75 million subscriber milestone reflects this connection and added that the company aims to make its songs, artists and stories accessible to more people.
Shemaroo Filmi Gaane has also launched a new 15-episode YouTube IP titled ‘Celebrating 75 Music Legends’. The series will pay tribute to 75 iconic singers, composers and lyricists who have contributed to Hindi film music. Each episode will feature five music legends through stories, trivia and memorable songs.
The channel’s catalogue includes more than 10,000 songs spanning Hindi cinema from the 1950s to contemporary films. It currently gets around 300 million views every month.
Shemaroo Filmi Gaane is part of Shemaroo Entertainment’s wider YouTube network of more than 100 channels covering Bollywood, regional, devotional, kids’ entertainment and other genres. The network collectively gets around 3 billion views every month.
