Sony Entertainment Television is all set to captivate audiences once again with the 16th season of the iconic quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), premiering on August 12. The show, which has been a symbol of hope, knowledge, and aspiration for millions, continues to be hosted by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, who returns to guide contestants through life-changing moments in the hot seat.
This season, KBC’s campaign, ‘Zindagi Hai. Har Modh Par Sawaal Puchegi. Jawab Toh Dena Hoga’, delves deep into the notion that life, at its crucial junctures, poses challenges that test our resolve. The answers to these challenges can lead us down new paths, reflecting the enduring spirit of the show.
In its 16th edition, KBC introduces an exciting new feature, the ‘Super Sawaal.’ Positioned between questions 5 and 6, the Super Sawaal challenges contestants to answer without any lifelines or options. A correct response not only advances the contestant but also unlocks the ‘Dugnaastra,’ a powerful tool that allows them to double their winnings on any one question between questions 6 and 10. The fast-paced ‘Super Sandook’ also makes a return this season, adding an extra layer of intensity. Contestants who reach INR 3,20,000 will face a rapid-fire round of 10 questions, which must be answered in 90 seconds.
The upcoming season has attracted significant commercial interest, with 22 brands coming on board as partners. The season is co-presented by Hyundai Motor India Limited and Aditya Birla Group and is co-powered by Mountain Dew PepsiCo India, Mondelez India, Ultratech Cement, and Parag Milk Foods (Gowardhan Ghee). Additional partners include Special Partner Patanjali Dantkanti, Ceat, Lauritz Knudsen Electrical & Automation, and Banking Partner State Bank of India. Associate sponsors include Asian Paints, Kalyan Jewellers, Raymond, Life Insurance Corporation of India, Bikaji, Dorset, RC Plasto Tank and Pipes Pvt Ltd, Amazon.in, and Aakash Educational Services Ltd. The show also boasts partnership deals with the Reserve Bank of India, GSK, and Dr. Morepen.
Amitabh Bachchan, reflecting on his continued role as the host, said, “Kaun Banega Crorepati is more than just a game show; it’s a shared journey of dreams and aspirations, with millions of viewers rooting for the contestants on the hot seat. Hosting KBC keeps me connected to my fans, who I consider my extended family. Meeting contestants from all walks of life, each with unique stories of resilience, filled with trials and tribulations, yet always smiling and dreaming big, deeply moves and inspires me.”
He further emphasized that Season 16, embodying the spirit of modern India, continues to celebrate knowledge as a great equalizer. The season promises to offer viewers an even more enriching and thrilling experience, building on the show’s legacy.
‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ S16 premieres on August 12 and will air every Monday to Friday at 9:00 p.m. on Sony Entertainment Television.
