Actor Sayani Gupta has announced the launch of her own production house, Sayani Gupta Movies (SGM), marking a significant step in her creative journey. Alongside this, she is set to make her directorial debut with a short film titled ‘Aasmani’, which she will also produce and write.
According to a PTI report. Gupta, known for her performances in films like ‘Article 15’ and ‘Margarita with a Straw’, as well as the popular series ‘Four More Shots Please!’, has spent over a decade working across films and streaming platforms. With SGM, she now aims to move behind the camera and shape stories on her own terms.
Speaking about the new venture, Gupta said that stepping into production has been a long-cherished dream. She emphasised her intention to build a collaborative space that prioritises storytelling and craft. “We will go slowly but steadily, concentrating on one film at a time. For us, the quality of writing, craft, storytelling will always take precedence… and for that to happen, the right kind of time, care and attention needs to be given to every project,” she said.
Her debut directorial ‘Aasmani’ will feature veteran actor Revathy in a key role, along with Daria Bedi and Abhay Kaul. The project marks a new phase in Gupta’s career, where she takes on multiple responsibilities as a creator, bringing together her experience both in front of and behind the camera.
Prior to this, Gupta had already explored production as a co-producer on projects such as ‘Where the Winds Blow’, ‘Upar Neeche’, ‘Dear Men’, and ‘Shameless.’ With ‘Aasmani’, she now takes full creative control, signalling a deeper commitment to independent storytelling.
The launch of Sayani Gupta Movies and her directorial debut reflects a growing trend of actors stepping into content creation, as they seek to tell stories that resonate more personally and push creative boundaries in the evolving entertainment landscape.
