Rohan Parashuram Kanawade’s critically acclaimed film ‘Sabar Bonda’ is set to arrive in Indian cinemas on September 19, the makers announced yesterday.
The film recently created history at the Sundance Film Festival 2025, where it not only became the first Marathi-language feature to premiere at the prestigious festival but also walked away with the Grand Jury Prize, the highest honour at Sundance, according to a PTI report.
Produced and distributed in India by Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media, ‘Sabar Bonda’ was selected from a staggering 17,000 global submissions, standing out as the only Indian feature in competition this year. Its remarkable recognition has been described as a proud moment for Indian independent cinema, particularly for regional storytelling making a mark on the global stage.
Following its triumph at Sundance, expectations are high for its theatrical run in India.
