Hollywood legend Robert De Niro takes on his first regular television role in the highly anticipated drama series ‘Zero Day’, set to debut on Netflix.
The six-episode series will premiere on February 20, with De Niro portraying George Mullen, a former US President tasked with investigating a devastating cyber attack that has left the country in chaos, PTI reported from Los Angeles.
The official synopsis reveals that George Mullen, now heading the Zero Day Commission, faces the monumental task of identifying those responsible for a massive cyberattack that results in thousands of fatalities. As Mullen delves deeper into the crisis, he finds himself battling disinformation and political power struggles involving key figures in technology, Wall Street, and government. This search for the truth not only puts his career at risk but also forces him to confront his own dark secrets.
The star-studded cast includes Angela Bassett, Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen, Connie Britton, Dan Stevens, and Matthew Modine. Additionally, Bill Camp, Dan Stevens, Gaby Hoffmann, Clark Gregg, and McKinley Belcher III will make guest appearances throughout the series.
Lesli Linka Glatter directs the series, with the story co-created by Eric Newman, Noah Oppenheim, and Michael Schmidt.
De Niro, 81, was last seen in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the ‘Flower Moon’ alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone. The actor’s involvement in ‘Zero Day’ marks a thrilling new chapter in his illustrious career, stepping into the realm of serialized television.
