Richie Mehta’s ‘Phoolan’ to premiere at TIFF

Filmmaker Richie Mehta’s upcoming Hindi film ‘Phoolan’ is set to make its world premiere at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

According to a PTI report today from Mumbai,the film is based on the life of Phoolan Devi, who became known as the ‘Bandit Queen’ of Chambal before entering politics and becoming a Member of Parliament.

The movie will be screened on September 16 at the Princess of Wales Theatre under TIFF’s Special Presentations section. Written and directed by Richie Mehta, ‘Phoolan’ focuses on the life journey of Phoolan Devi and explores the challenges, struggles, and events that shaped her story.

The film has been produced by Shareen Mantri Kedia, Kishor Arora, Kanwal Kohli, and Richie Mehta under the production banner Namah Pictures.

With its selection for TIFF’s Special Presentations section, ‘Phoolan’ will be introduced to an international audience at one of the world’s most recognised film festivals.

Amazing and grim battle for survival. Guess it will end up in Supreme Court. All that NCLT asked Zee to do was to file a reply to Invesco petition for a EGM. Now this is getting too serious.
