Actor R Madhavan on Sunday night revealed the first look teaser of his much-anticipated biopic GDN, in which he steps into the role of the legendary inventor Gopalaswamy Doraiswamy Naidu — widely known as the ‘Edison of India.’
The teaser, which Madhavan shared on his Instagram handle, offers a striking glimpse into his powerful transformation for the film.
According to an ANI report, the short clip opens with a dimly lit workshop, where Madhavan is seen welding, surrounded by sparks and machinery. His face remains hidden behind a protective mask until he lifts it to reveal an aged and intense visage — complete with G.D. Naidu’s signature spectacles and contemplative expression. The teaser has already generated excitement among fans and the film fraternity alike, marking Madhavan’s return to a character-driven role.
Sharing the teaser, the actor wrote, “The spirit of G.D. Naidu is now officially unveiled. A story of unmatched vision, towering ambition, and unwavering resolve. We proudly present the First Look Teaser of G.D.N.” The post was accompanied by the official teaser video, which quickly went viral on social media.
‘GDN’ is directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar and jointly produced by Varghese Moolan Pictures and Tricolour Films. The production team features Aravind Kamalanathan as the cinematographer and creative producer, while Muralidaran serves as the executive producer. The film is backed by Varghese Moolan and Vijay Moolan from Varghese Moolan Pictures, along with R. Madhavan and Sarita Madhavan from Tricolour Films.
The biopic aims to chronicle the extraordinary life of G.D. Naidu, a self-taught inventor and visionary industrialist from Coimbatore, who made groundbreaking contributions to engineering, mechanics, and industrial innovation in India.
Meanwhile, Madhavan has a packed slate ahead. He will be seen alongside Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh in ‘De De Pyaar De 2’, which also stars Meezaan Jaaved Jaaferi. The film, written by Luv Ranjan and directed by Anshul Sharma, is slated for release on November 14. The actor was last seen in Aap Jaisa Koi, opposite Fatima Sana Shaikh, where he portrayed Shrirenu, a reserved Sanskrit teacher, while Fatima played Madhu, a lively French instructor.
With ‘GDN’, Madhavan once again proves his knack for selecting powerful, character-driven stories that blend cinematic flair with real-life inspiration.
