The trailer of Prime Original movie ‘Subedaar’, which is an emotionally charged action-drama directed by Suresh Triveni and stars Anil Kapoor, amongst others, has been released by the streaming platform.
Apart from Kapoor, ‘Subedaar’ stars Radhikka Madan in a leading role along with an ensemble cast that includes Mona Singh, Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Rawal, Faisal Malik and Khushboo Sundar in pivotal roles.
The high-octane, visually striking trailer of the upcoming Prime Original action-drama ‘Subedaar’, according to a statement from the streaming platform, offers a glimpse into the film’s raw, cinematic spectacle, highlighting its large-scale production and the immersive world of title character Subedaar.
Directed by Suresh Triveni, and produced by Vikram Malhotra, Anil Kapoor and Suresh Triveni, ‘Subedaar’ is written by Triveni and Prajwal Chandrashekar with dialogues by Triveni, Saurabh Dwivedi and Chandrashekar. Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Bhumika Tewari, Shareen Mantri Kedia and Kishor Arora from Dharma Productions and Namah Pictures, respectively, also come in as producers.
The trailer plunges into India’s rugged heartland, where illegal sand mining fuels a land ruled by fear and silence. Retired Subedaar Arjun Maurya returns — disciplined, battle-scarred and grieving — until his path collides with Prince (Aditya Rawal).
On his role, Kapoor commented, “Playing this character has been one of the most powerful and emotionally demanding experiences of my career. Subedaar Arjun is a man defined by discipline, sacrifice, and deep personal loss, and bringing that to life on screen was both challenging and incredibly fulfilling for me as an actor.
“It also marks my first collaboration with director Suresh Triveni, Vikram Malhotra and Prime Video. Their commitment to scale, authenticity, and bold storytelling gave us the freedom to tell this story with the intensity it truly deserves.”
Speaking about her character Shyama, Radhikka, said, “My character, Shyama is a young woman dealing with loss, unspoken fear, and quiet strength, while trying to protect herself and navigate a fractured relationship with her father. What I admire about her is that her courage is not loud — it comes from resilience, self-belief, and emotional honesty.”
Gritty yet deeply human, the film promises a searing clash of ego, pain, and survival, the statement added. ‘Subedaar’ is set to premiere on Prime Video in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages in India and over 240 countries and territories worldwide on March 5.
Triveni, director, writer and one of the producers of the film, said, “‘Subedaar’ is a tribute to the mainstream cinema I grew up with. It’s a tribute as a Anil Kapoor fan boy. While it deals with a retired army man acclimatising to the ‘civilian’ life, deep inside it’s a father daughter story. This film is personal and has been challenging, a feat that I couldn’t have achieved without my team.”
