India’s public broadcaster Prasar Bharati yesterday launched Creator’s Corner, a new initiative on DD News aimed at providing a national platform to digital content creators from across the country, which is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to recognise and promote India’s rapidly growing creator economy.
Giving details, federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw said that 2026 would mark a year of major reforms for Prasar Bharati, alongside a comprehensive restructuring of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB).
According to a government statement yesterday, the Minister said institutions such as Doordarshan and All India Radio would be reoriented towards greater industry participation, technology-driven processes and engagement with new-generation creators, with Creator’s Corner being the first step in that direction.
Referring to the WAVES platform launched last year, Vaishnaw described it as a game changer for the creator economy. He said the initiative aims to empower one crore youth, generate new employment opportunities and create economic activity worth nearly Rs 5,000 crore, underscoring the government’s focus on leveraging digital creativity as a growth driver.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan said the launch of Creator’s Corner reflects the Prime Minister’s vision for the Orange Economy. He highlighted how creators from small towns and remote regions are independently producing and distributing content, building livelihoods without access to large studios, and said Doordarshan would now offer them a strong national and global platform.
MIB Secretary Sanjay Jaju said the initiative would help build a vibrant, responsible and inclusive creator ecosystem by recognising creators as complete content makers. He added that Creator’s Corner, which begins on DD News, will gradually expand across all Doordarshan channels and feature content in multiple languages, regions and genres through a dedicated prime-time slot.
Under the initiative, Creator’s Corner will air from Monday to Friday at 7 pm on DD News, with a repeat telecast the next day at 9.30 am. Each episode will feature four to six reels or videos covering themes such as news and current affairs, culture, travel, health, education, science and technology, environment and entertainment, marking a mutually beneficial partnership between Prasar Bharati and digital creators.
