Renowned dancer-actor-director Prabhu Dheva is all set to make his OTT debut with ‘Sethurajan IPS’, a Tamil political crime thriller set to stream on Sony LIV.
Directed by Rafiq Ismail (known for ‘Rathasaatchi’ and ‘Westminster Abbey of the East’), the series sees Prabhu Dheva donning the uniform of a police officer investigating a politically sensitive murder case in rural Tamil Nadu. The case plunges him into a turbulent battle involving power, identity, and justice.
Prabhu Dheva, best known for his dance-centric roles as well as lighter or romantic characters in films like Kaadhalan, Love Birds, Minsara Kanavu, and Kaathala Kaathala, describes this role as a major departure. In a statement, he said “Sethurajan IPS isn’t just a cop; he’s a man caught in a storm of duty, identity, and politics. This role challenged me like never before. I believe this story is not just timely, but necessary.”
As part of Sony LIV’s 2025 slate of Originals, ‘Sethurajan IPS’ stands out for its rooted storytelling and genre shift — blending suspense, social commentary, and political crime in an authentic Tamil setting.
A release date is yet to be announced, but anticipation is high given Prabhu Dheva’s shift to gritty roles and the show’s promising premise.
