Pixar’s much-loved animated film ‘Cars’ is set to return to theatres to mark its 20th anniversary. Originally released in 2006, the film became a popular film among audiences and introduced fans to Lightning McQueen, a confident race car who dreams of winning the biggest races.

According to an ANI report from Washington, the story follows Lightning McQueen as he accidentally ends up in the small town of Radiator Springs while travelling to California.

After damaging a road, he is asked to stay back and repair it. During his time in the town, he meets several memorable characters and learns about friendship, teamwork and the importance of slowing down.

The film featured the voices of Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen, Bonnie Hunt as Sally Carrera and Larry the Cable Guy as Mater. It was directed by John Lasseter and became a major success for Pixar.

‘Cars’ later grew into a successful franchise with two sequels, ‘Cars 2’ and ‘Cars 3’, along with animated series, merchandise and other spin-off content.

The 20th-anniversary theatrical return will give longtime fans another opportunity to experience the film on the big screen and introduce the Pixar classic to a new generation of viewers.
