This Saturday, July 12, ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ on Netflix is all set to raise the entertainment bar with a star-studded episode featuring four of India’s most celebrated OTT performers — Jaideep Ahlawat, Vijay Varma, Jitendra Kumar and Pratik Gandhi.
Streaming exclusively on Netflix, the episode dives deep into the raw, unfiltered journeys of these acting powerhouses while delivering plenty of laughs along the way.
In what promises to be one of the most inspiring and entertaining episodes of the season, viewers will get a glimpse of the hustle, heart, and humour that shaped the careers of these four talents. While audiences know them as the faces of streaming blockbusters, this episode peels back the curtain to reveal the hard-earned success behind their meteoric rise.
According to a Netflix press note, the conversations with host Kapil Sharma are anything but scripted. Jitendra Kumar, famously known as Jeetu Bhaiya from ‘Kota Factory’, surprises everyone, including Kapil, when he reveals he’s actually an IIT graduate.
In a relatable moment, Gandhi chimes in, “Engineering ke baad aapko sach mein pata chalta hai ki aapko life mein kya karna hai”, drawing instant laughter and nods from anyone who’s ever switched careers.
Meanwhile, actors Varma and Ahlawat — batchmates from the prestigious Pune-based film and TV academy FTII — share emotional and hilarious tales of chasing their acting dreams. From Vijay running away from home after borrowing money for fees to their early days of dreaming about screen stardom, the anecdotes are as cinematic as the roles they now command.
“It honestly felt like the ‘Om Shanti Om’ dialogue — ‘Kehte hain agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho…’ coming to life,” the press note reads.
Adding to the madness is Sunil Grover’s Diamond Raja, who returns with an ‘audition anthem’ so catchy it might just rival any Bollywood item song. Whether it’s perfecting the ‘left-right-open-to-options’ Oscar pose or teaching the stars to strut their success, Grover delivers his trademark flair.
And just when the laughter and inspiration seem to hit a peak, the show pulls off an unexpected surprise — Korean pop sensation Jackson Wang makes a guest appearance on the ‘Kapil Show’set, marking an electrifying crossover moment where K-Pop meets Ka-Pil. The mix of cultures and charisma lights up the set, capping off what promises to be an unforgettable hour of television.
To top it all, Jaideep’s groovy dance number with the ever-iconic airport security duo, Sona and Mona, leaves the audience in splits and applause. As the Netflix note puts it: “his moves are just as ‘qatal’ as his acting.”
